Warangal Urban:It is a matter of great pleasure to take part in the distribution of Rs 1.33 crore worth of equipment and accessories to 685 persons with disability (PWD) free of cost through the Telangana Vikalangula Co-operative Corporation (TVCC), said Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakakar Rao here on Wednesday.
Speaking after the distribution of the prosthetic limbs and mobility aids at a programme organised at Ambedkar Bhavan in Hanamkonda on Wednesday, the Minister said that the State government was spending Rs 20 crore worth of tools to 1,300 beneficiaries across the State. “The government offers three percent reservation for the disabled persons besides providing a pension of Rs 3,016 per month to each of 4,92,680 persons with disability by spending a total of Rs 1,800 crore annually,” Rao said adding that no other State is implementing such scheme for the PWD.
“The TVCC is also providing battery tricycles, wheelchairs, smartphones, and other appliances to the PWD,” he added. Government Chief Whip and Warangal West MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar said that the TRS government was committed to the uplift of all sections of the society and trying to help the differently-abled to lead a respectful living by providing financial and other means of assistance. MLC K Srihari, MLA N Narender, TVCC chairman Vasudeva Reddy, District Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu, and others were present at the programme.
