Hyderabad: Former Minister and TRS leader Md Fareeduddin passed away due to cardiac arrest, while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here on Wednesday. He underwent liver surgery about a week ago. He was 64.
Fareeduddin joined the Congress and started his political career as sarpanch of his native village of Hoti (B). He grew gradually in the Congress party and contested from Zaheerabad Assembly constituency during the 1999 Assembly elections in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh and won as an MLA. He retained the seat for second term in the 2004 Assembly elections and went on to become the Minister for Minority Welfare. After the formation of Telangana State, Fareeduddin joined the TRS and got elected as MLA in 2016.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao mourned the sudden death of Fareeduddin. He recalled tha latter’s services to people of Telangana as well as erstwhile Andhra Pradesh as a minority leader, MLA and Minister. He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members.
Ministers T Harish Rao, Mohd Mahmood Ali, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, S Niranjan Reddy, Tasalani Srinivas Yadav, Koppula Eeshwar, and other TRS elected representatives and leaders, paid rich tributes to Fareeduddin and extended their condolences to the family.
