Family donates organs of two brain-dead individuals under Jeevandan initiative
Families of Choppadandi Narsaiah and Easta Srujana donated six organs, including liver, lungs, and kidneys, under the Jeevandan initiative. Both were declared brain-dead after health emergencies. The donations will help needy patients in Telangana.
Hyderabad: Family members of two brain-dead individuals, a 67-year-old goldsmith, Choppadandi Narsaiah, hailing from Jagitial, and Easta Srujana (34), a housewife from Adilabad, donated the organs of the deceased to needy patients under Jeevandan organ donation initiative.
A total of six organs, liver and lung from Narsaiah and two kidneys, liver and lung from Srujana, were donated. On February 23, Narsaiah, from Shivaji Nagar, who was on a morning walk, was hit by a two-wheeler. He was rushed to a private hospital in Hyderabad, where he received emergency ICU treatment. With no improvement in his health condition, doctors declared him brain dead. His wife Andalu and son Ch. Suresh made the decision to donate his organs to needy patients.
Easta Srujana, resident of Jankapur, Asifabad, on the 18th day after her second delivery, experienced a sudden spike in blood pressure and collapsed at her residence on January 21. Family members rushed her to a hospital in Mancherial and later shifted her to a private hospital. However, her condition did not improve and she was declared brain dead. Srujana’s husband, Gundu Nagaraju, made the decision to donate her organs to needy patients.
