Farmer charred to death while burning maize stubble in Nirmal
A 56-year-old farmer died after being engulfed in flames while attempting to control a fire that spread from burning maize stubble to his standing paddy crop in Kanakapur village of Nirmal district. Police said the incident occurred on Tuesday

Nirmal: Tragedy struck a farmer who attempted to burn maize stubble in his farm but was engulfed in flames and charred to death in Kanakapur village on Tuesday. In a tragic turn of events, after the farmer, Manda Ganganna (56), set fire to the maize stubble, the flames spread to the standing paddy crop and he was charred to death.
Police said Manda Ganganna (56) tried to douse the flames that engulfed his standing paddy crop. He had also called his nephew Janardhan over the phone to help extinguish the fire after the paddy crop caught fire. Janardhan rushed to the field, but in vain. Ganganna was accidentally charred to death while attempting to control the fire before Janardhan could reach the farm.
