tHyderabad: B. Ajith Reddy, Additional Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) and Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited, has directed officials from all relevant government departments to expedite their work regarding the Old City Metro Rail expansion.
On Saturday, Reddy conducted a field inspection of the road-widening works along the Metro Rail corridor in the Old City. Accompanied by Metro Rail Chief Engineer S. Bhaskar Reddy, he inspected the road-widening operations spanning 7.5 kilometres from Darulshifa to Chandrayangutta. He inquired about the status of property acquisitions, noting that 833 out of the 888 affected properties along this route have already been acquired.
He also discussed with officials the measures being taken to expand the Metro Rail route alongside the remaining 55 properties, which include heritage structures and ancient buildings. Furthermore, he instructed that the work of safely relocating utilities—such as power lines, poles, and water pipelines—be accelerated to ensure they do not obstruct the project.
Reddy advised government departments involved in the corridor’s Metro works to coordinate effectively and strive to secure the Right of Way (RoW) quickly.
