Five persons with tiger hide held in Mulug

Mulug: Police nabbed five persons and seized a tiger hide from them in Wazeedu mandal in the district on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media persons here on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sangram Singh Ganpatrao Patil said a police team which was conducting vehicle checking at Jagannadhapuram junction spotted five persons moving suspiciously and found a tiger hide with them.
The accused bought the tiger hide in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh to sell it in Telangana. The accused were identified as Punem Vignesh, Sodi Chanti and Soyam Ramesh of Kondapuram of Venkatapuram mandal, Chiraa Srinu of Govupalli of Eturnagaram mandal of Mulug district and Chinthala Bala Krishna of Chinthanlanka of Tekulapally mandal in Kothagudem district.
A team of Forest officials authenticated the tiger hide and efforts were on to apprehend the remaining accused. As the offence attracts several penal provisions of sections of Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, the case was handed over to the Forest Department for further investigation, the SP said.
Police team led by CI K Shiva Prasad , SIs G Thirupathi K Thirupathi Rao and staff M Surender Babu, Ch Ramesh, G Veerababu, D Nageswra Rao, M Shekhar, B Veera, G Vamsi, B Vijay and T Murali took part in the operation.
Besides the adult tiger hide, three mobile phones and two two-wheelers were seized from the possession of the accused, the SP added.
