Rajanna-Sircilla: Five students were feared drowned in Manair river on the outskirts of Sircilla town on Monday. While authorities managed to retrieve the body of a 12 year-old boy Kolipaka Ganesh, search operation is on to locate the other children.
Police said eight children from Rajivnagar area of Sircilla town went to Manair river for a swim. Five of them Ganesh, Venkata Sai, Ajay, Rakesh and Kranthi drowned in the water as they didn’t know how to swim. Frieghtened over the drowning of their friends, the other boys ran away from the spot. Farmers, who found the children drowning in the water called the police, who rushed to the spot and launched a search operation to retrieve bodies.
Till evening only one body, identified as that of Ganesh was found. He was in eighth class. All the victims were students of Venkampeta government high school. Rain and darkness wer hampering the retrival operations.
