Food safety inspections uncover hygiene issues in Telangana residential schools and eateries
The Commissioner of Food Safety conducted inspections across government schools, hostels, mid-day meal centres, and private food outlets in Hyderabad, uncovering serious hygiene violations. Several facilities lacked food licences, used synthetic colours, and stored food in non-food-grade containers.

Hyderabad: Inspections by teams from the Commissioner of Food Safety at government residential schools, hostels, mid-day meal centres, private restaurants and supermarkets have revealed several violations related to hygiene and storage.
The inspecting teams reported that some facilities lacked food licences and were found using synthetic colours. The teams also detected non-food-grade containers being used to store food items.
Stocks of expired infested pulses were seized and subsequently discarded. Samples of moong dal, black gram and tamarind were sent to a laboratory for quality analysis.
“Food Safety, Telangana: Inspections at govt res. schools, hostels & mid-day meals (hygiene advice given) and private outlets (supermarkets, KFC, hotels, sweet shops)- No food license in some units, synthetic colours being used, non-food-grade containers found. Expired/infested pulses discarded and Samples (Moong Dal, Black Gram, Tamarind) lifted,” the Commissioner of Food Safety posted the update on X.
