Former Khammam excise official accuses liquor trader of malicious campaign
Former Khammam excise official Vustala Somi Reddy has lodged a complaint against liquor trader Kondapalli Ganesh, alleging a malicious social media campaign, threats and character assassination. He submitted 17 messages and a pen drive containing data as evidence.
Khammam: Famed for buying Ganesh laddu for Rs 51 lakh; booked by Cyberabad police in Rs 3.45 crore fraud case; a liquor trader and resident of upscale My Home Bhooja Apts. in Hyderabad, Kondapalli Ganesh, landed in yet another trouble.
Erstwhile Khammam prohibition and excise deputy commissioner, Vustala Somi Reddy lodged a complaint against the liquor trader with Khanapuram Haveli police here for allegedly launching a malicious campaign against the official.
The deputy commissioner also submitted the copies of the complaint to the DGP, Khammam CP, additional DCP (law and order) and ACP (Town) seeking to register a case under relevant sections against Ganesh and punish him accordingly.
In his complaint, Somi Reddy stated that Ganesh, who hails from Yellandu in Kothagudem district, was harbouring a deep-seated personal malice and vengeance against him and resorting to character assassination.
He claimed that Ganesh had launched a campaign against him from August 8 to 11 on social media and other digital media outlets to ruin his integrity, personal standing and reputation. In addition, he also sent extortion threats and abusive messages to his official WhatsApp number.
Somi Reddy further noted that in order to vilify his image and to mislead the State machinery, Ganesh has forwarded messages with false corruption petitions against him to heads of different government departments including ACB.
He lamented that the actions of the culprit have caused him mental agony, distress and obstructed him from discharging his official duties. He said he lost concentration; his prestige was lowered among superiors, subordinate staff and the general public by the actions of the perpetrator.
Somi Reddy submitted as many as 17 copies of the messages forwarded/circulated by Ganesh along with a pen drive consisting of the data as evidence to the police.
