Former minister Jogu Ramanna interacts with an elderly man at Khanapur area in Adilabad on Monday
Adilabad: Former minister Jogu Ramanna made it clear that efforts of the State government to demolish the houses of the poor would not be tolerated and that the BRS would stand by and fight against the government until the poor get justice.
He along with cadres of the party toured Khanapur, Ambedkarnagar, Kolipura and Terpelli areas where residents were tense after a team of both municipal and revenue departments tried to carry out a survey to identify boundaries and full tank level, here on Monday. The BRS district president assured that efforts to demolish the houses of the poor would not be tolerated. He stated that the BRS would stop any attempt of the government in this direction. The locals explained to the former minister how much emotional distress they were experiencing ever since the officials visited the localities.
The former MLA made it clear that he would stand by the victims and told them not to worry. He opined that it would not make sense to register cases against those who utter a few words against Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy as they were distressed. He extensively covered all the colonies and tried to reassure the locals.
“The poor have been living in houses for decades, it is not fair for the government to treat them without mercy,” he remarked. He reminded them that Indiramma houses were built here during the Congress government. He expressed his concern that the poor people were getting scared. Some of the elderly people were worried a lot over the survey, he regretted.
He stated that the BRS would not stay quiet if the houses of the poor were demolished. He questioned how reasonable it was for the government to target the houses of the poor without focusing on development. He assured the victims that if they call him or the party ranks at any night, they would reach there within minutes.
Ramanna accused the Congress government of leaving the promises to the wind and causing problems to the public with the aim of making money.
