Hyderabad: Congress veteran and former legislator Rajayyagari Muthyam Reddy has passed away at his residence in Medak on Monday, following a short illness. He also served as Medak Zilla Parishad chairman and also MLC.
Muthyam Reddy hails from Kamaram village in Chinnashankarampeta mandal in Medak district and was elected as Ramayampet MLA on behalf of Congress party in 1978. However, he sacrificed his seat for T Anjaiah when the latter was appointed as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh by the Congress high command. He later served as MLC and Zilla Parishad chairman among others. He has been staying away from politics for some time now, due to age-related issues.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao mourned the death of Muthyam Reddy and conveyed his condolences to the members of the bereaved family. He recalled the services rendered by Muthyam Reddy and his association with the latter as the duo belong to the same Medak district. He also recalled how Muthyam Reddy had sacrificed his MLA seat and also his services as MLC and ZP Chairman. He said with the death of Muthyam Reddy, the erstwhile Medak district had lost an ideal leader.
