Khammam: All arrangements have been made for the counting of Khammam Local Authorities Constituency (LAC) MLC votes that would take place on Tuesday, informed District Collector VP Gautham.
The Collector spoke at a training programme conducted for counting staff here on Monday. He told the counting staff to be aware of the guidelines stipulated by the Election Commission of India for the counting of votes.
The counting would take place on the basis of the first and second preferential votes. The staff must have a clear understanding of valid and invalid votes. All forms related to voting counting must be filled up properly.
Gautham also interacted with the contesting candidates on the day and asked the candidates or their agents to reach the counting centre by 7 am while informing them that counting begins at 8 am.
The Collector further informed that four tables have been set up for counting of votes in addition to separate tables for Returning Officer and General Observer. One ballot box each was used for polling held at four polling stations in the erstwhile Khammam district.
Later, addressing a press conference, he said a total of 738 votes were polled. A total of sixteen counting staff, four each for one counting table, have been appointed.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Vishnu S Warrier giving details of security arrangements said around 200 police personnel and officials, led by four ACPs, would be on duty to maintain law and order at the counting centre.
