Mulugu: The four-day mini Sammakka-Saralamma fair, popularly known as Medaram Jatara, will be held from February 12.
The schedule for the fair was announced after a meeting held under the chairmanship of Panchayat Raj Minister Danasari Anusuyya alias Seethakka on Tuesday.
According to Medaram priests, the rituals, including temple cleaning, worship, and village confinement are scheduled for February 12.
On February 13, deities Sammakka and Saralamma will be worshipped with turmeric and vermilion. The Manda Melige ritual will be held on February 14 and 15.
While the State government officially holds the biennial fair, the temple priests conduct the mini jatara (Manda Melige) at the request of devotees in the intervening year.
To commemorate the valour of the tribal women Sammakka and Sarakka against the imperial Kakatiya kings, local tribes, who worship them as goddesses, gather at the tiny Medaram village in Tadvai mandal every year for the Sammakka-Sarakka Jatara.
