Four, including woman and three children, drown in whirlpool at Dabha village in Asifabad
Four people, including a woman and three children, drowned in a whirlpool in a stream at Dabha village, Kumram Bheem Asifabad. The woman died while trying to rescue the children. Police have registered a case and begun investigations.
Kumram Bheem Asifabad: In a tragic accident, four persons including a woman and three children drowned in a whirlpool that formed in a stream at Dabha village in Wankidi mandal on Saturday.
Police said Morle Nirmala Bai, 35, her 12-year-old son Gannu, and Vade Maheshwari, 9, and Ade Shashikala, 9, all from the village, met a watery grave. Nirmala died when she ventured to rescue her son and the girls who got caught in the whirpool. The girls belonged to two different families. Their bodies were retrieved from the pool.
The boy, along with the two girls, was reportedly trying to take water from the stream to drink after playing on the banks of the tank at the time of the incident. Nirmala was working in a nearby farm. She rushed to the tank upon hearing screams of the children. She drowned in the pool as she did not know swimming.
A pall of gloom descended over the village following the deaths of the woman and three children.
A case was registered based on a complaint received from Nirmala’s husband. Investigations were taken up.
