Hyderabad: Four transgender persons who allegedly demanded money from a family and threatened them if they did not pay, were arrested by the Petbasheerabad police on Monday.

The arrested were Swathi, Shravani, Shivani and Bhoomi, all residents of Maratha Basthi in Suraram Colony here.

According to police, the suspects went to the complainant’s house during the house-warming ceremony and demanded quite a big sum. When the complainant refused to pay so much, they, displaying their private parts, created a nuisance and threatened the residents. They also extorted Rs 4,000 from the family.

Upon receiving a complaint, police reached the spot and arrested them. A case of trespass, obscene act and extortion was registered against them. They were produced before court, police said.
