Nalgonda: Welcoming the offer of Union Minister for Tourism G Kishan Reddy to mediate in the river water dispute between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, former chairman of Telangana State Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy on Monday urged the Union minister to also work for establishing railway coach factory and Central funds to the State.
Speaking to the media here, Sukender Reddy said the Centre had promised to set up a railway coach factory at Kazipet, but did not fulfil its promise. “The Centre sanctioned a railway coach factory to Maharashtra but forgot its promise to Telangana State. Kishan Reddy should use his influence to bring a railway coach factory to the State,” he said.
Stating that the Centre was showing discrimination towards Telangana State on all fronts, he said Kishan Reddy should also explain as to why BJP government at the Centre took the unilateral decision to merge seven mandals of Telangana State with AP. The Union Minister should also clarify his stand on the decision of Food Corporation of India (FCI) not to purchase common variety of paddy. The decision of the FCI created unrest among farmers in the State, and Kishan Reddy should convince Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene on the issue.
Pointing out that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao met with Modi in New Delhi in a gesture that spoke of the federal spirit of the Constitution, he said leaders of some political parties were politicising even this.
Referring to comments by BJP State president Bandi Sanjay on immersion of Ganesh idols in Hussain Sagar, he said the BJP leaders have been trying to disrupt communal harmony by making provocative statements for their own political interests.
