Hyderabad: Several food safety violations were detected by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) teams during inspections of sweet shops across the city on Wednesday.
The food safety teams, acting on instructions from GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, inspected 29 sweet shops and found multiple irregularities. In some outlets, expired food ingredients—posing serious health risks—were being used in the preparation of sweets.
Additionally, several kitchens were found to be unhygienic, and many products on sale lacked proper labels and expiry dates.
Officials also observed that kitchen staff were not wearing mandatory head caps, gloves, or aprons. The inspections further revealed that some shops had failed to renew their FSSAI licenses despite expiration.
