Hyderabad: A question was found to be missing in the intermediate English medium Physics-II exam that was conducted across the State on Tuesday.

The mistake was reported in Section-C, wherein two out of the total three questions were to be answered, with each question for eight marks.

While 19th and 20th had only one question each, the 21st question had two — a six-mark question and an additional two-mark problem.

Telugu-medium students were asked to explain the principle and working of a nuclear reactor with the help of a diagram for six marks. In addition, a question ‘how much energy would be released if one microgram of Uranium is completely destroyed in an atomic bomb explosion’ was asked for two marks.

However, the two-mark problem was missing in the same question in the English medium paper.

As a result, Telugu-medium students attempted both questions, whereas English-medium students answered only one question, ie, on the nuclear reactor.

Telangana Board of Intermediate Education Secretary S Krishna Aditya acknowledged the mistake and explained that the number of students writing in Telugu medium was relatively small. He assured students that proper care would be taken during the evaluation process.

According to sources, Telugu medium students attempting question No 21 would be evaluated for eight marks, whether or not they solve the two-mark problem.

Meanwhile, 12,720 students were absent for the physics-II and economics-II examination conducted on Tuesday. A total of 4,57,395 of the 4,70,115 registered students appeared for the examination.

Nine malpractice cases — five in Warangal, three in Nirmal and one in Karimnagar — were booked.
