Medaram (Mulugu): The Congress government has utterly failed in conducting the largest tribal festival in Asia, Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara, Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TGREDCO) former chairman Y Sathish Reddy said.
The ministers and the police have turned the sacred festival of the forest goddesses into a spot for their reels and publicity stunts instead of focusing on conducting the jatara smoothly. As a result, lakhs of devotees were facing difficulties, he said.

Speaking to the media here on Saturday Sathish Reddy complained that there were no buses for the devotees who came to have darshan of the goddesses. There was a lack of drinking water, no facilities for women and infants besides lack of doctors to attend to patients.
Due to the failure of the official mechanism there was a traffic jam for several kilometres. It was taking six to seven hours to travel a distance of 20 to 30 kilometres and the journey to Medaram turned troublesome for devotees, he noted.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy boasted of elaborate arrangements but the reality was different. Minister Seethakka was busy receiving VIPs and facilitating their darshan while police officers were forced to accompany them and none was caring about common devotees.

The Congress government, which claimed to have carried out development works, has created new problems for the devotees. In the guise of a master plan, they have created only one route to reach the altars. As a result, devotees were facing severe difficulties at the altars, Sathish Reddy said.
During the BRS government’s tenure, such terrible conditions were never seen. The failure of the government was evident with the fact that devotees became enraged and even attacked the minister’s vehicle, he added.
