Governor calls for TB-free Karimnagar and eradication of social evils
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma stressed the need for collective responsibility in eradicating tuberculosis under TB-free Bharat. He urged writers, poets, and public representatives to participate in awareness efforts and highlighted the importance of early detection of symptoms.

Karimnagar: The Governor Jishnu Dev Varma emphasised that everyone should take responsibility for Tuberculosis (TB) eradication besides taking precautions to stay safe from the disease.
Stating that a number of medicines are available to cure the disease, he called upon writers, poets and public representatives to participate actively in the eradication of TB.
It is possible to detect the disease at the earliest stage when everybody is aware of the symptoms. Stating that everybody should act responsibly for TB-mukt Bharat, he emphasised the need to make Karimnagar as a role model by completely eradicating TB from the district.
He also stressed on the need to make Karimnagar as a drug-free district. Besides these two issues, it is also necessary to work for women’s empowerment, he opined.
The Governor interacted with prominent persons and officials at the Collectorate auditorium after participating in the second convocation of Satavahana University in Karimnagar on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that instead of confining themselves to their homes, intellectuals and educated people should share their knowledge with society and underscored the need to strive for the eradication of social evils such as dowry, child labour and labour exploitation. India will have a bright future if these social evils are eradicated, the Governor opined.
Earlier, Collector Pamela Satpathy explained to the Governor about various developmental programmes and welfare schemes being implemented in the district through PowerPoint presentations.
