Pranay is being taken to his school in a procession in Bellampalli on Tuesday
Mancherial: Gold medal winning athlete Kotturi Pranay was accorded a grand welcome by members of Swaroes, alumni of Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions, on his arrival at Bellampalli town on Tuesday. He won the gold medal in long jump and high jump at 32nd South Zone Junior Athletics Championship held in Kerala recently.
Pranay, a Class X student of a social welfare residential school-Kasipet mandal, was trained by Nagapur Ramesh, senior coach of Sports Authority of India. He proved his mettle in athletics by bagging gold and silver medals in a national level competition under the 14 category. He participated in many national and south India level events and displayed outstanding display.
A native of remote Nakkalapalli village in Kotapalli mandal, Pranay was welcomed by Regional Coordinating Officer Swarupa Rani and Physical Education Teacher Shilpa Santosh. He was taken to his school in a massive procession taken out in the streets of the coal belt town. He had achieved four gold medals, two silver and two bronze medals so far.
Principal of the school Ramesh, Swaroes state executive council member T Srinivas and joint secretary Usha and many others were present.
