Haleem now available beyond midnight in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: With the State government allowing business establishments to conduct business throughout the night, the haleem is now available beyond midnight at several restaurants in the city.

Restaurants across the city are selling the dish till at the wee hours of the day at a price Rs 300 a regular plate. The price of special plate, jumbo pack and family pack are higher. On average, a regular plate contains 350 grams of haleem.

Although there is no religious significance attached to it, the dish is sought after for its nutritious value and is typically eaten after one breaks their fast for the day. “Earlier we used to close the counter by 10 pm. Now we are keeping the establishment open until sehri time as youngsters are prefer to hop around haleem joints after midnight,” MA Majid of Pista House.

Keeping in mind such customers we have revised our kitchen roster,” said Mohd Irfan owner of Subhan Bakery.

The haleem is prepared using chicken, mutton or beef meat, ghee, wheat, spices, dry fruits and other ingredients. Madina Hotel at Pathargatti, introduced Haleem to its menu in 1956, making this royal delicacy accessible to the common people of the city. Until then it was a dish served at royal palaces.
