Sangareddy: The daughter of a hamali, working at civil supplies godown for the last three decades in Sadasivapet, bagged first rank in Junior Lecturer (Zoology) recruitment examination in Telangana.
Taslima Fathima (26), daughter of SK Babumiya, a resident of Ishrathabad, was on cloud nine as she secured the first posting at government junior college in her home town Sadasivapet. Babumiya, who has been working as Bharata Rashtra Samithi trade union leader, said that he was proud of his daughter’s achievement since he had put a lot of effort even to meet the expenses of his two children’s education.
He said Fathima put in all the efforts and overcame many challenges to clear the recruitment examination despite studying in Urdu medium up to Class X. Switching to English medium, Fathima studied intermediate at Indo British Junior College in Sadasivapet. She completed her graduation from the prestigious Women’s College, Koti. Later, she secured sixth rank in TSPGCET and joined post-graduation (Zoology) College of Science, Osmania University.
In less than two years after she completed her PG, the BRS government had issued a notification for recruiting junior lecturers in the State. Fathima secured the first rank.
Speaking to ‘Telangana Today’, Fathima said she wanted to give something back to society by teaching the students at her home town Sadasivapet. She said she had plans to pursue a PhD and become a professor if everything went according to plan. Fathima had a wonderful academic record from childhood. She had a 9.5 GPA in Class X and got 943 marks for 1,000 in intermediate.
