Telangana: Wait for appointment orders gets longer for junior lecturers
While recruitment to 1,139 out of 1,392 vacancies has been finalised long ago, officials are still awaiting Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's time who will be handing over appointment letters to selected candidates
Hyderabad: So close, yet out of reach. This is the situation of several candidates who have recently been shortlisted for the junior lecturers’ recruitment and are eagerly waiting for appointment orders followed by posting orders.
While the recruitment was finalised a long ago, officials are still awaiting Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy‘s time to hand over appointment letters to the selected candidates.
After 14 long years, the junior lecturers’ recruitment notification was issued by the previous BRS government via the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) in 2022. Further, creating history, the then BRS government decided to fill 1,392 posts in 27 subjects. Previously, the junior lecturer posts were notified in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh government in 2008.
The recruitment exams were conducted in 2023. While subject-wise certificate verification was taken up from August 5, the Commission started issuing a provisional selection list for each subject from October 2024, with the last such list being released for Botany, Hindi and Zoology subjects on December 4, 2024. Even after one month into the release of the final selection list, appointment orders have not been issued by the State government.
According to sources, recruitment to 1,139 vacancies, including 581 under multi-zone I and 558 under multi-zone have been finalised for appointment orders. Of the total, 152 of the 154 notified mathematics posts are selected for appointment. Similarly, 116 and 109 candidates were finalised for 117 Hindi and 112 Physics vacancies that were notified by the Commission.
Recruitment to over 250 posts, including in English and Botany subjects, could not be finalised due to pending cases in the High Court. “We are ready with the final recruitment and waiting for a nod from the Chief Minister, who will be handing over the appointment letters,” sources said.
