Hyderabad: Former MP and senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao has appealed to the party high command to appoint a leader from the Backward Classes as the new president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee.
Rao, who celebrated his birthday on Tuesday, opposed the State government’s move to auction government lands. “If governments continue to sell government lands, in future there will be scarcity of land even for crematoriums,” he said.
He appealed to all political parties to set aside their ideologies and fight against the government’s move to auction the lands. He also said an all-party meet had been organised on Thursday to discuss measures to install Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue at Punjagutta.
