Hyderabad: BRS deputy floor leader and former Minister T Harish Rao criticised the Congress government for its inefficiency in delivering its commitments to employees and workers. He said the Congress promised Praja Palana but betrayed every section of society.
Addressing a gate meeting of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) employees ahead of the elections to the recognised union, Harish Rao said the Congress government failed to implement the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) and clear six pending Dearness Allowance (DA) instalments even after two-and-a-half years in office. He said employees, who were expecting an announcement on June 2, were left disappointed.
The former Minister said the Congress government also did not honour promises made to ASHA workers, Anganwadi staff, RTC employees, GHMC workers and Singareni employees. He stated that the government expanded the operational area of the Water Board without recruiting adequate staff, thereby increasing the workload on existing employees.
Campaigning for BRS-affiliated Bharat Rashtra Trade Union-backed candidate Ram Babu in the upcoming recognised employees’ union elections, Harish Rao said the party would continue to fight for workers’ rights and resolve their issues. He recalled that during the BRS regime, the services of around 650 employees were regularised and promotions were granted to hundreds of others.
Targeting Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Harish Rao said several major promises, including farm loan waiver commitments and ex gratia of Rs 1 crore announced for victims of the Sigachi industry accident in Patancheru, remained unfulfilled.
He exuded confidence that the BRTU-affiliated union would emerge victorious in the elections and appealed to employees to support its candidate. He ridiculed the alleged attempt to change the election symbol of “Arrow” to defeat the BRTU-backed candidate.
