Rajanna-Sircilla: Former Minister and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao on Tuesday challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to debate on what the people of Telangana had lost during the last 11 months of the Congress regime.
Reacting sharply to Revanth Reddy’s comments that the people of the State had lost nothing, Harish Rao threw a challenge at CM for a debate on any sector, right from farmers’ problems, debts, hospitals, drinking water, water for irrigation, power supply and education to health among others. All sections of the people have suffered under the Congress government, he said while addressing a press conference after having darshan of Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy of Vemulawada on Tuesday.
Revanth Reddy has no moral right to speak against BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao since the latter took the State to the top position with his decisions, he said, pointing out that Telangana, which used to be in number one position in all sectors in the country during the BRS regime led by Chandrashekhar Rao, had now lost that advantage under the Congress government.
Telangana used to be in the top position in per capita income, power generation, maintenance of law and order and other sectors. However, the State lost that edge, he said.
Revanth Reddy, who in presence of Vemulawada Rajarajeshwara Swamy, promised to waive all crop loans by August, had failed to fulfill his promise. Crop loans of a majority of the farmers were not waived so far. The condition of Gurukuls in the State was another example. Though 36 students died in Gurukuls across the State, the government was least bothered about it. Protests by students in Nagarkurnool was a classic example of how Gurukuls were being maintained by the government, he said.
Chandrashekhar Rao had provided Rythu Bandhu to farmers even durin the Covid pandemic. However, the Congress government had not launched the promised Rythu Bharosa so far. Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao had taken all possible measures to provide employment to Sircilla weavers by providing government orders. However, suicides among weavers had resumed with the Congress coming to power, due to lack of employment and government orders
Unemployed youth were thrashed severely by the police in Ashoknagar when the former asked about recruitments. While dalits lost Dalit Bandhu, farmers lost Rythu Bandhu.
Shepherds and fishermen lost sheep and fish seedlings respectively. Government employees lost DA and other benefits, while journalists lost the right of questioning. Most importantly, there was no maintenance of law and order in the State, he added.
