Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior MLA T Harish Rao termed the Telangana High Court’s ruling on Group-1 exam irregularities a slap in the face to the Congress government. Citing lapses in exam centre allocation, hall ticket issuance, and results, he said the verdict exposed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s haphazard approach in conducting the competitive exams.

“You are playing with the lives of students. What is your response to the court’s verdict now?” he asked.

Harish Rao accused the government of negligence and political gimmicks at the cost of unemployed youth. “Conducting exams and providing jobs is not like provoking students and indulging in petty politics. At least now, open your eyes, hang your head in shame, and apologise to Telangana’s youth,” he demanded.

Welcoming the High Court verdict, BRS leader Y Satish Reddy said justice would not be served by mere re-evaluation. He demanded a CBI probe to identify those responsible for the irregularities and initiate stringent action against them, to avoid recurrence of such lapses in future.

“The same TSPSC officials who erred earlier cannot be trusted again,” he said, adding that the re-evaluation or re-examination process should be handed over to UPSC or a committee formed by the High Court.

He stated that errors plagued every stage of the Group-1 exam, from notification to evaluation, including mistakes in reservations and hall ticket allotments. He accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of encouraging irregularities despite promising reforms.
