Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya mourned veteran actor and ex-MLA Kota Srinivasa Rao’s death, remembering his remarkable film journey, public service in Vijayawada, and calling his passing a huge loss to cinema and society.

Hyderabad: Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya expressed deep grief over the passing of legendary Telugu actor and former MLA Kota Srinivasa Rao, calling it an irreparable loss to Indian cinema and public life.
Reacting to the news on Sunday, July 13, Governor Dattatreya said he was shocked to hear about the demise of the versatile actor who had also served the people as a legislator. He recalled his long association with Rao, remembering him as a close friend who always raised important public issues when Dattatreya was serving as a Union Minister.
Highlighting Kota Srinivasa Rao’s contribution to the development of Vijayawada and Krishna district, the Governor described him as a true representative of the people, who worked at the grassroots with honesty and dedication.
Apart from his political work, Kota Srinivasa Rao was praised for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. Beginning his career with Pranam Khareedu in 1978, Rao went on to act in more than 750 films across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages. Known for his powerful villain and comic roles, he won the hearts of the audience and critics alike.
Governor Dattatreya said that Rao’s demise is not just a loss to the film industry but also to all organisations that uphold national values and patriotism. He offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for them to find the strength to bear this difficult loss.
“May his soul rest in peace,” the Governor added.
