MSP key to reducing farmer suicides, says Bandaru Dattatreya

Senior BJP leader and former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya said farmer suicides could be reduced if minimum support price was assured for crops. Speaking at the inauguration of the Kisan Gramina Mela at Ambedkar Stadium in Karimnagar, he described agriculture as a way of life rather than just an occupation.

Karimnagar: Senior BJP leader and former Haryana Governor, Bandaru Dattatreya opined that farmer suicides would come down when minimum support price was provided to crops produced by ryots.

Inaugurating Kisan Gramina Mela at Ambedkar stadium here on Wednesday, Dattatreya said that agriculture was not only an occupation it was a way of life.

Advising farmers to adopt modern farming technologies, he said that instead of routine crops, farmers should cultivate diverse crops to gain more benefits.

The three-day mela began at Ambedkar stadium, showcasing different types of agricultural equipment, products and innovations.
