Kumram Bheem Asifabad: The headmaster of Zilla Parishad Secondary School at Koutala was suspended on charges of dereliction of duty after students protested, alleging they were served worm-infested mid-day meals on Friday.
The suspension orders were issued on Saturday by K Satyanarayana Reddy, Regional Joint Director, School Education Department, Warangal.
According to the order, B Narayana Singh was suspended for negligence in providing the mid-day meal and for failing to follow the prescribed departmental menu. An inquiry was conducted into the students’ allegations and a report was submitted by officials, following which action was taken against the headmaster.
The aggrieved students staged a sit-in on the road, stating that the meal was contaminated and cooked in unhygienic conditions. Traffic came to a standstill during the protest, which was withdrawn after Education Department officials assured the pupils that their claims would be examined through a detailed inquiry.
Meanwhile, BRS senior leader and former minister T Harish Rao criticised the government for negligence in providing the mid-day meal and shared photographs of the protest on his X account, prompting officials to respond to the incident.
