Warangal: The Health Profile pilot project will be launched in Mulugu and Sircilla districts once the Sammakka-Sarakka jatara is over, Medical and Health Minister T Harish Rao said on Thursday. “With this project, Telangana will emerge as a role model for the nation,” he said.
“Telangana State secured the third position in NITI Aayog’s 2019-20 health index among larger states, while BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh was at the bottom. The union government also announced in Rajya Sabha that the Telangana government was spending large amounts on public health. The per capita expenditure by the State is Rs 1,698,” Harish Rao said, adding that the State government was taking up a slew of measures to improve the health infrastructure in the State.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for T-Diagnostic Hub at the Government Maternity Hospital in Hanamkonda, and inaugurating Blood Storage Unit, Mother’s Milk Bank and TB Speciality Clinic on the same premises, he said the government will sanction Rs 7.50 crore soon for setting up an MRI scanning as well as the second CT scanning facility at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital here for the benefit of poor patients.
Stressing the need for more care on the neonatal front, the Minister said that paediatric ICUs would be made available in government hospitals in the 33 districts at a cost of 86 crore.
Referring to the vaccination drive against Covid-19, he said Hanamkonda topped the State in completing vaccine jabs for the 15-17 year old teenagers, and appreciated the district administration for the feat.
The Minister said a 200 beds in Narsampet hospital, 300 beds in Bhupalpally hospital, 200 beds in Mulugu and 200 beds in Mahabubabad district hospitals would be made available soon. “ In addition to this, a superspeciality hospital with 2,000 beds in 15 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 1,100 crore will come up in Warangal. With these upgradation of the CHCs and setting up of new hospital, a total of 2,900 beds will be made available for the people in government hospitals in erstwhile Warangal district,” he added.
The Minister also visited the government run MGMH in Warangal and inaugurated the 42-bed Dedicated Paediatric Care Unit (DPCU) at the hospital. He was accompanied by Ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Satyavathi Rathod, Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, MLA Nannapuneni Narender, MP Banda Prakash, and others.
Hanamkonda Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu, Warangal Dr B Gopi, DMHOs of both the districts, MGMH Superintendent Dr Bathula Srinivas Rao and others attended the programmes.
