Heavy rain lashes erstwhile Karimnagar; temporary road washed away in Manair river
Several areas in the erstwhile Karimnagar district received heavy rain, with the highest at 96.8 mm in Pellalingapur. A temporary road near Kistampet was washed away, while farmers welcomed the rainfall, which will aid in starting paddy plantation activities.
Karimnagar: Widespread rainfall has been lashing several parts of the erstwhile Karimnagar district since last night, bringing relief to farmers and disrupting temporary infrastructure.
The highest rainfall of 96.8 mm was recorded in Pellalingapur of Ellanthakunta mandal in Rajanna-Sircilla district. Nerella in Dharmapuri mandal of Jagtial district witnessed 91.3 mm.
Though no major damage has been reported, a temporary earthen road laid across the Manair river near Kistampet in Kalvasrirampur mandal was washed away due to heavy water flow. The road served as a local link between Peddapalli and Jayashankar-Bhupalpally districts.
Meanwhile, farmers who were awaiting rainfall to begin planting paddy seedlings expressed happiness with the steady downpour.
