Heavy rains bring copious inflows in erstwhile Adilabad projects

Heavy rains in erstwhile Adilabad district for the second consecutive day brought copious inflows into major irrigation projects including Kaddam Narayana Reddy, Sripada Yellampalli, and Swarna, with several minor projects also receiving abundant water.

Adilabad: Various irrigation projects received copious inflows following heavy rains that lashed erstwhile Adilabad district for the second day in a row on Thursday.

Kaddam Narayana Reddy Project in Kadem mandal centre had inflows of 77,442 cusecs as per a bulletin released at 11 am. Water level of the project reached to 693 feet as against the storage capacity of 700 feet or 3.495 tmcs.


Surplus water was discharged downstream by lifting six gates out of total 18 gates. People living in downstream areas were advised to be cautious about floods.

Sripada Yellampalli Project at Gudipet village registered inflows by 48,013 cusecs. The water level of the project touched 145.28 meters as against the storage capacity of 148 meters.

The outflow was 12,875 cusecs. Swarna project recorded inflows of 10,000 cusecs. Water level of the project reached 1,176 feet out when compared with the total storage capacity of 1,183 feet.

Sathnala, Mathadivagu, Gaddennavagu, Kumram Bheem, Purshottam Rao, Rallivagu, Nelwai, Bheemaram and other minor irrigation projects in Adilabad, Nirmal, Kumram Bheem Asifabad and Mancherial districts had copious inflows. Farmers expressed happiness over heavy rains and abundant water in irrigation projects. They said that the rains rejuvenated paddy, cotton and soy crops.
