Karimnagar: Normal life came to a halt in Karimnagar town following incessant rainfall since Tuesday night, with 60.3 mm of rainfall recorded till noon on Wednesday.
Residents largely remained indoors through the morning, while several low-lying areas were inundated. Drainage water entered homes in multiple localities, including one near Saikrishna theatre, causing distress to residents.

Commuters faced severe hardships as waterlogged roads disrupted vehicular movement at various junctions. Traffic moving towards Warangal and Hyderabad was affected due to rainwater overflowing at Alugunur chowk on the town’s outskirts.
Similar scenes were reported from Mancherial chowk, RTC workshop, the collectorate office, Hussenipura and Kaman areas, where roads remained flooded and difficult to navigate.
Meanwhile, heavy rains brought coal production to a standstill in the Ramagundam region of Peddapalli district. Operations in four opencast projects (OCPs) were suspended after rain water accumulated in quarries, making it impossible to operate heavy machinery.
Officials said the production of nearly 80,000 tonnes of coal was affected due to the disruption.
