Heavy rains cut off transportation to several villages in Khammam
Heavy rains in erstwhile Khammam district led to overflowing streams and inundation of low-lying areas, cutting off transport links to several villages. Coal production in Kothagudem was affected, and the Godavari River at Bhadrachalam continues to rise due to persistent rainfall in upper catchments.

Khammam: Low lying areas were inundated and several streams overflowed cutting off transportation to many villages as several mandals received heavy to moderate rainfall in the past 24 hours in erstwhile Khammam district.
Kattaleru stream in Chintakani mandal overflowed affecting vehicular traffic between Khammam-Bonakal as a bridge near Ramakrishnapuram was submerged. Police put up barricades as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident.
Officials said that traffic could not be restored until the water level in the stream receded. People heading to Bonakal, Chintakani and Ramakrishnapuram villages were told to take alternative routes. Emergency services and movement of goods were disrupted.
Low-lying areas of Municipal wards 12 and 13 of Wyra municipality were inundated causing severe difficulties to the locals. As Vootavagu overflowed at Tirumalapuram paddy fields were inundated and the movement of vehicles was disrupted.
Wyra recorded a rainfall of 6.5 cm, Khammam urban 6.5 cm, Chintakani 5 cm, Konijerla 5.6 cm and Nelakondapally 4.2 cm while Raghunathapalem mandal received 5.5 cm on Wednesday.
In Kothagudem, coal production was affected due to continuous rain in the past 24 hours. The water level in river Godavari at Bhadrachalam has been rising slowly in view of heavy rains in its upper catchment areas. The water level was 30.10 feet at 9 am.
