HMWS&SB launches One Time Settlement scheme on pending water bills
HMWS&SB urged its customers to make use of the ‘One Time Settlement (OTS-2024)’ scheme and clear all their pending water bills without having to pay any outstanding interest accrued over the years on their pending water bills

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supple and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) on Tuesday urged its customers in Hyderabad to make use of the ‘One Time Settlement (OTS-2024)’ scheme and clear all their pending water bills without having to pay any outstanding interest accrued over the years on their pending water bills.
The MD, HMWS&SB, Ashok Reddy on Tuesday said that an amount of Rs 1706 crore towards outstanding water bills is due to the Water Board. “Through this one time settlement, we are offering waiver of interest on water bills to the tune of Rs 1189 crore. This is a golden opportunity for all of our customers to make full use of this offer. There are a total of 13.50 lakh drinking water connections and roughly 7 lakh customers will be able to benefit from the OTS scheme,” Ashok Reddy on Tuesday said.
The amount of interest on outstanding water bills that has to be waived is based on the level of each Water Board official. “A water board Manager can waive interest on pending water bills up to Rs. 2000, a Deputy General Manager can waive between Rs. 2001 and Rs. 10,000, a General Manager can waive between Rs. 10,001 and Rs. 1,00,000, and a Chief General Manager can waive Rs. 1,00,001 or more,” he said.
The One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme will be available for customers till October 31. The entire outstanding interest pending on water bills of customers, who have so far not availed the facility during earlier OTS schemes, will be waived-off. The interest amount of 50 percent will be waived-off for customers who have earlier availed OTS scheme.
