How air conditioners can affect your skin health
Air conditioners offer relief from summer heat but may affect skin by reducing indoor humidity and causing moisture loss. Experts suggest staying hydrated, using moisturisers and gentle skin-care products to help maintain healthy, comfortable, and glowing skin during extended periods indoors.

As temperatures soar, air conditioners become an essential part of daily life. Whether at home, in the office, or while travelling, many people spend hours in air-conditioned spaces to escape the heat. While ACs help keep us cool and comfortable, they can also affect the skin.
Air conditioners work by reducing humidity levels in a room, which can cause moisture to evaporate from the skin more quickly. Over time, this may leave the skin feeling dry, tight, flaky, or dull. People with naturally dry or sensitive skin are often more likely to notice these effects. In some cases, dehydrated skin can even make fine lines more visible.
Interestingly, oily skin is not immune either. When the skin loses moisture, it may try to compensate by producing excess oil. This can leave the face looking greasy and may contribute to clogged pores and occasional breakouts.
Fortunately, a few simple habits can help. Drinking enough water throughout the day, using a hydrating moisturiser, and avoiding overly harsh cleansers can help maintain the skin’s moisture balance. Facial mists and hydrating serums may also provide extra comfort during long hours spent indoors.
While air conditioning itself is not harmful, pairing it with proper skin care can help keep your skin healthy, comfortable, and glowing throughout the summer.
