Hyderabad: 200 persons jailed for harassing women during Ganesh festivities

Hyderabad: Around 200 persons who were caught harassing women in public places during the recent Ganesh festivities, were sentenced to imprisonment for a period of three days by a local court on Friday. The court also imposed fine on them.
The Hyderabad She Teams conducted decoy operations to safeguard women at crowded areas like Khairatabad Bada Ganesh and other crowded pandals across the city during the festivities.
Out of the 996 individuals caught for misbehaving and harassing women, 200 persons were produced before the court on Friday.
“These offenders were caught with video and photo evidence of their indecent behaviour at various public places. Other offenders, for whom video evidence could not be captured, were counseled in the presence of their family members,” said a She Team official adding that these individuals will remain under surveillance to monitor their behaviour.
