Hyderabad: AIDSO convention opposes NEP 2020, warns of impact on education

A state-level students’ convention organised by the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) in Hyderabad marked the conclusion of a campaign collecting one lakh signatures to protect and strengthen public education.

Hyderabad: Under the banner of the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO), a state-level students’ convention was organised marking the conclusion of the statewide campaign for the collection of one lakh signatures demanding the protection and strengthening of public education.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. PL Vishweshwar Rao, Member of the Telangana Education Commission, said the undemocratically imposed NEP–2020 does not contribute positively to the education system and instead promotes privatisation, saffronisation, and centralisation of education.

Prof. Amanchi Nageshwar Rao from Osmania University said the education sector in the state, which is already facing several hardships, would become even more distressed with the implementation of NEP–2020.

Shibasis Praharaj, All India General Secretary of AIDSO, stated that AIDSO is conducting struggles across the country to resolve these issues, undertook the statewide signature campaign and will launch larger movements in the future.

The programme was also addressed by Shamsul Alam, Treasurer, AIDSO Central Council; V. Harish Kumar, Joint Secretary, Central Council, Kalyan Kumar, Central Working Committee Member, and J. Mallesh and Satyanarayana, President and Secretary of AIDSO Telangana State Committee.
