Hyderabad: The second Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) working under National Health Mission (NHM) and organisations representing them in Telangana State on Thursday demanded immediate implementation of promises that were made by health authorities related to payment of 100 per cent gross salary along with 7 months of PRC salary arrears.
Taking part in a dharna organised by Unions representing second ANMs, the field level workers said that after sustained protests, the health authorities had made promises to pay gross salary with 7 months of PRC salary arrears, Rs 10 lakh health insurance, sub-centre rent arrears, and vaccine arrears to those who were not eligible for the ANM recruitment examination due to age.
“As part of the discussions on February 17, authorities promised to pay the 7 months PRC arrears by March 31. Promises were made by authorities many times to pay the PRC arrears, but they were not fulfilled. It is regrettable that the PRC arrears were paid to the EC ANMs but not to the second ANMs till now,” said AITUC State Deputy General Secretary M Narasimha.
Narasimha demanded that the ANM recruitment examinations in Telangana State results be released at the earliest. Those who were over 52 years of age were also eligible to take the examination and if the results were released quickly, then such candidates will have a chance to serve as regular ANMs. If the results are delayed, there is a possibility of serious problems, he added.
