Hyderabad-based Heartfulness Institute targets 30 million trees by 2030
On World Environment Day, the Heartfulness Institute announced plans to plant 30 million trees by 2030 under its Forests by Heartfulness initiative. Already active across 12 states, the project is one of India’s most diverse ecological restoration efforts.

Hyderabad: Noted Hyderabad-based spiritual organization, Heartfulness Institute, on World Environment Day, Noted Hyderabad-based spiritual organization, Heartfulness Institute, on World Environment Day, Thursday, said it is firmly on track to plant 30 million trees by 2030 through its Forests by Heartfulness (FBH) initiative in various parts of the country.
As part of the FBH project, 3.5 lakh trees will be planted to develop 650 hectares of forest land in a year, the Heartfulness Institute in a statement said.
Since its inception, FBH has planted over 3 million trees across 10,000 acres of degraded lands in 12 Indian states, conserving more than 80 endangered species with 90 percent survival rate. It operates 20 native nurseries housing 6 million saplings across 330 endemic species, making it one of India’s most diverse and robust plantation efforts.

Some of the key features of Forests by Heartfulness are over 1200 mature trees relocated with 80 percent success rate, 35 lakes restored or created, providing a capacity of 77 crore litres of water capacity and 22 afforestation projects in 12 states on over 75,000 acres of degraded lands.
The FBH initiative is already quite active across in various states including Madhya Pradesh where 2,000 acres of scrub forest in Shivgarh, Ratlam are being revived into native forests. A similar model is being scaled at many places in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi NCR and the Aravalli afforestation project at Aravalli Hills to prevent desertification in central India, the press release added.
