Hyderabad: Book explaining spiritual significance of Islam released

The 175-page book explains in brief the importance of prayer (namaz), pilgrimage (Haj), alms (zakat), fasting (sawm), supplication (dua) and remembrance (zikr)

Hyderabad: Islam Velugu, a book written by Mohd Mujahid explaining Islam and its spiritual significance in simple and plain style in Telugu, was launched on Tuesday.

The 175-page book explains in brief the importance of prayer (namaz), pilgrimage (Haj), alms (zakat), fasting (sawm), supplication (dua) and remembrance (zikr). It also throws light on the rights of parents and Islamic etiquettes and also details the Islamic perspective of environment. With the help of short stories it relates the life and times of the Prophet of Islam and his companions.

Naseera Khanam, national secretary, women’s wing of Jamat-e-Islami Hind, who released the book, hoped it would dispel misgivings about Islam. The easy to read and lucid translation would be appreciated by Telugu readers, she said. The book is available at the Markazi Maktaba Islami, Purani Haveli and also with the writer, Mujhaid (Ph.9640622076).
