Hyderabad cops nab man from Gurgaon for spoof Paytm app

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cybercrime police arrested one person from Gurgaon on charges of developing a spoof Paytm mobile application to cheat the public.
The man, identified as Varma, a native of Gurgaon, developed the spoof app with an intention to cheat merchants, police said.
“The app was developed in such a way that it will generate a message on the screen showing that money was transferred. Showing it, the conmen would walk away from the shops without paying to the merchants,” said K V M Prasad, ACP (Cybercrime).
On a complaint from the Paytm management, the Cybercrime police registered a case and arrested the suspect from Gurgaon.
