Hyderabad Cybercrime police to open history sheets on repeat offenders

In a bid to curb recurring cyber offences, the Hyderabad Cybercrime police have initiated a directive to maintain suspect sheets for habitual offenders involved in social media crimes and financial frauds.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cybercrime police have directed their officials to open and maintain suspect or history sheets for habitual and repeat offenders involved in social media offences and financial frauds.

The initiative aims to curb repeat cybercrime activities and enhance monitoring of high-risk offenders in the city.

The move, issued through a memo by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cybercrime Wing followed instructions from the Director General of Police, Telangana. Accordingly, officials have been asked to identify such offenders, place them under continuous surveillance and file compliance reports.

Even individuals not yet convicted but falling under the “suspects” category will be tracked under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
