Hyderabad: A day after the Bhoiguda fire mishap that claimed lives of 11 workers, the Telangana Fire Services Department took up a special drive on Thursday to identify such premises located in residential areas and to get them vacated.
Senior officials held a meeting with district fire officers and instructed them to identify scrap segregation units, factories and any other processing units situated in residential areas. A senior official said local teams would visit such areas after identifying units or companies that pose risk to the local population.
“Notices will be issued to them to immediately vacate the premises considering the risk to human habitations in case of fire mishaps,” he said.
Fire officials will also ask managements of such premises to immediately relocate any persons staying within the premises and to install fire-fighting equipment in the buildings.
Meanwhile the GHMC officials razed down the scrap godown at Bhoiguda. The police CLUES team that visited the premises on Wednesday after the mishap collected some material and will be sending it to the Forensic Science Laboratory, officials said.
