Hyderabad: Some pregnancies can be more difficult than others, especially for women who are older, overweight and have pre-existing medical conditions such as hypertension and diabetes. Dr Pranathi Reddy, Senior Consultant & HOD Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Malla Reddy Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, has been able to help such women successfully deliver a healthy child.

Recently, a two-month pregnant woman, who went to Malla Reddy Narayana Multispeciality Hospital with bleeding and pain, was tested positive for Covid. She had Ectopic pregnancy. The patient underwent an emergency laparotomy under Dr Pranathi’s supervision. Her Covid markers were highly raised, thus she was in ICU for one week, and treated with the support of a physician. As her saturation was dropping she was kept on NIV. Fortunately, she recovered after 10 days and discharged.

In another case, Dr Pranathi treated an expecting mother, who was infected with Covid twice and the patient was taken for a cesarean. Mother and baby recovered well and were discharged from the hospital, a press release said.
