Hyderabad: A 25-year-old cab driver, reportedly depressed over his mother-in-law’s extramarital affair, died, allegedly by suicide, in Nandanavanam of Meerpet late on Wednesday.
According to the police, A.Babu had married Nirmala in July last year and they were staying in Sri Ramana Colony in Nandanavanam. Two months into the wedding, the couple began fighting over different issues. In between, Babu also learned that his mother-in-law Vijaya (40) was allegedly having an extra-marital affair with one Srinu. When Babu questioned them about this, the duo came to his house and abused him. He was depressed over this for a few days.
“Elders in the family then counseled Vijaya and Srinu, but they continued with the affair and also continued to abuse Babu. About a month ago, Nirmala too left the house and went to stay with her mother. Since then, Srinu began calling Babu and abusing and threatening him,” police said.
On Wednesday, Babu allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling fan in his room. His brother, who broke open the door after getting no response, found the body. Babu’s father Ramu alleged that he had ended his life due to harassment from Vijaya and Srinu. Based on his complaint, the Meerpet police have booked a case and have taken up investigation.
