Hyderabad man’s organs donated after fatal crash under Jeevandan initiative

Family of 51-year-old Shyam Babu Pilli, who was declared brain dead after a road accident, donated his kidneys and corneas under Jeevandan initiative.

Hyderabad: Family members of 51-year-old small business owner Shyam Babu Pilli, a resident of Raju Colony, Balanagar in Hyderabad, who was declared as brain dead by attending doctors, have donated his organs to needy patients as part of Jeevandan organ donation initiative.

On June 21, while travelling on his two-wheeler, Shyam Babu, owner of a pan shop, met with an accident when his vehicle skidded. The family members immediate shifted him to a private hospital in Hyderabad.


Despite emergency ICU treatment, his health condition did not improve, and the doctors declared him as brain dead at 6.52 pm on Sunday, June 22. The wife of Shyam Babu, P Kantha made the decision to donate his organs and gave the consent.

The surgeons retrieved Kidneys (02) and Corneas (02) and allocated them to needy patients based on Jeevandan organ donation guidelines.

The Jeevandan authorities have extended gratitude the family members of Shyam Babu Pilli for deciding to donate the organs.
