Hyderabad: North Zone Police instruct lodges to function within purview of law

Hyderabad: The North Zone police cautioned the owners and managements of hotels and lodges to beware about precautions to be taken up as part of regular running of the establishment.
During a safety meeting organised with the representatives on Wednesday, Zonal DCP Rashmi Perumal instructed lodges to function within the purview of law including Telangana State Public Safety Act, trade licence regulations and BNSS.
She reminded that recently Metropolis Hotel near Secunderabad railway station was being used for conducting month long large gatherings with participants from different states. Specifically, one participant of this gathering is the accused involved in desecration of a temple. The organiser of this event had mobilised around 151 members and was claiming to hold English speaking and personality development classes at the hotel premises.
“Over 50 rooms were also rented out as part of accommodation to the congregation. The organiser and hotel management had taken no permissions nor informed the local authorities for holding this event. In this context, decision has been taken to suspend the trade licence of the hotel and sealing of its premises is being done as per law by the authorities concerned apart from booking a case at Gopalpuram PS,” the DCP said.
Instructions were given at the meeting included maintenance of Register of Visitors on proper lines and submission of daily entries to local police station promptly.
Further, record of ID proof of persons staying at the lodge should be filed at the premises for easy perusal. CCTV installation with backup is mandatory as per the Public Safety Act and must be complied with.
They were advised to ensure presence of sufficient security apparatus security guards at the premises. Over 200 owners or representatives of hotels and lodges were present.
